Vice President Zheng Weitao Attended the 6th China-Japan Conference on Education Exchange & Cooperation

From November 26th to 30th, 2019, Professor Zheng Weitao, Vice President of Jilin University was invited to lead a delegation to attend the 6th China-Japan Conference on Education Exchange & Cooperation, in Japan. The delegation visited Osaka University and Association of Kyoto Universities, and conducted a working meeting with representatives of Kwansei Gakuin University.

On November 27th, the 6th China-Japan Conference on Education Exchange & Cooperation with the theme of “Future-oriented China-Japan Educational Exchanges - New Era, New Cooperation and New Development” was grandly opened. The Conference was hosted by China Education Association for International Exchange, undertook by Japan-China Cultural Exchange Center, and co-organized by the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Osaka, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, Osaka Prefecture, Osaka City, and Osaka University. More than 400 representatives from 152 universities and educational institutions in China and Japan attended this Conference.

Professor Zheng Weitao was invited to give a keynote speech at the Conference entitled “China-Japan Higher Education Exchange and Cooperation: New Era and New Opportunities”.

At the “Life Science and Regenerative Medicine: High-end Forum on Chinese and Japanese Medicine” held on the afternoon of November 27th, Professor Liu Jinyu, Deputy Dean of School of Public Health, Jilin University, made an academic report entitled “PBX homeobox 1 enhances hair follicle mesenchymal stem cell proliferation and reprogramming through activation of the AKT/glycogen synthase kinase signaling pathway and suppression of apoptosis”, and conducted in-depth discussions with experts and scholars from Japanese universities such as Osaka University.

On the afternoon of November 27th, the delegation held working meetings with Professor Kato Satoru, Vice President of Kwansei Gakuin University and other invited delegates.

During the visit to Osaka University on November 28th, Professor Zheng Weitao had a formal meeting with Professor Kawahara Genta, Vice President of Osaka University.

During the visit to medical and engineering laboratories of Osaka University, the delegation conducted in-depth discussions with Japanese counterparts on interdisciplinary research cooperation and cutting-edge research for the future.

The delegation also visited the Associations of Kyoto Universities to learn more about the development of universities in Kyoto and the supporting policies from the local government.
